ICAE is a major global network of organizations with a priority concern for adult and lifelong learning. Our members are working in Africa, Arab Region, Asia & South Pacific, Caribbean, Europe, Latin America and North America. We are proud of our strategic alliances and partnerships with other global social movements and organizations and lifelong learning-related international institutions in the field of adult literacy, peace and human rights, primary health care, globalization and social movements learning, gender justice, adult education in prison, as well as national adult learning policy.

The International Council for Adult Education together with its regional bodies, national associations and networks is committed to support people who have been voiceless in finding their own voice. To this end we issued the Ocho Rios Declaration in which we re-affirmed our commitment to the vital importance of adult learning.

The ICAE represents more than 700 literacy, adult and lifelong learning associations; it has seven regional member organizations and national and sectoral members in over 50 countries.
