The International Council for Adult Education successfully launched its Campaign for the Right to Lifelong Learning at the World Education Forum held in Porto Alegre on January 19-22, 2003.
Every day at noon for half an hour, ICAE was on the stage of the Gigantinho, a huge platform put up on a gigantic open space with a capacity for 15,000 people, more than 200 exhibition areas, and an array of cultural and touristic stands, giving out t-shirts, card fans, flyers, calendars with the campaign's slogans, reading testimonies submitted by ICAE members, and interacting with representatives of the education networks inviting them to join the ICAE campaign. We wish to invite all our members and friends to send their thoughts, ideas, initiatives, experiences and activities on the importance that learning or being educated has for adult people. Share your stories about the significance of learning (not only how to read and write) in developing the capability to carry out new skills. Send your material to icae@icae.ca, and we will distribute it to our networks and put it up on our website. We thank you very much for your co-operation. More about the Campaign... |
